Animation work update: Week one
Ok, well i got to say that i am pretty disappointed with my self. I have no idea what i am doing at this point and i got to say i am freaking out. right now i am trying to get myself situated so right now i am trying to work out the easier scenes.
The Cat looks up in surprise:
The Girl screams "Hey":
The Girl Says "Aww":
i hope i can get more done in class tomorrow.... God Help me

What is your relationship to the main character? At the Moment i can't really say for sure, like, I'm still working on a back story for her. I guess in relation She would be that underdog aspect, the one who does not have it easy in the beginning but works hard to achieve her goal. that feeling of the suffering of a hard life or up-bringing to success.

What experience/ feeling did you draw upon to create Him/her/it?
I don't really know, when i first came up with the girl character (REN) i had a different back story for both her and the Cat but decided to change it up.

referring back to the Cliche & Synopsis, take a few minutes to reflect on your piece and what you feel it is about; how do you want the audience to react to your piece? what do you hope the audience will like about the story & feel for the characters? what sort of audience would disappoint you?
My film is still the same as it was when i first started it, though i must admit that i still wished i could of done what i wanted to do with the story before all of this started. It's story hasn't changed nor it's meaning. As for the audience, at the moment i am not really concerned with the reaction, I mean don't get me wrong, i would love it if everyone liked it but at the moment i don't have the time to worry about something so trivial, at least not now any way, the work is all i can concern myself with till i can get to a good point in my animation, so i guess i'll get back to you on that note. I'd be disappointed if my audience is inattentive and are to quick to brush my work off, I mean, I'm trying hard to make something that i can be proud of, so, yeah, that would suck.

I am at the moment a little off my time frame, I was so wrapped up with getting the logo done for my client that i didn't get to the things i planned on done, not to mention that that Cat's rut was a lot harder that i fist thought. Same goes for REN, but i think i can still pull something worth while out of my ass, I also thought of a good way to start my film, the reason that she is on the roof in the first place. She'll be their to take pictures of the setting sun and the city. I also decided to cut some of the dialog from the film and make most of it into thoughts.

What were the successful elements in the junior pieces we just saw? Well, I can say this about the pieces we just saw, all of these animators knew what they were doing. I fell that they where all successful in their own right. they knew what they wanted their work to produce and they did just that.
Unsuccessful elements? Some of the character design was not to my liking, for others it was the story that needed work.
How might this knowledge affect the way you approach your junior piece? For the most part now i know what not to do in my piece and what to which out for.

What has been the most challenging aspect of getting work done up to this point? What adjustments will you make to change them?
I believe the most my biggest challenge with  this project is that I am so fixated on the work aspect of it that i forgot that it could be fun too. I'm not enjoying it because i am not allowing my self to and in doing so, turning myself off to the whole thing. i also need to use my time more wisely. For some reason when i am off  from school ( as in my day off from school home) i seem to get even less work done if any. Whether i'd like to admit it the fact is that i'm to easily distracted. I believe my best bet is to spend more time in school working and to find a more secluded area where i won't run into anything that might effect my focus, what little i may have. Don't worry, be happy.

What happened over spring break?
Well on a positive note, i did get some sleep over the break. That and i got a bit of a reality check. I wasn't able to get down to the school till last Thursday  and stayed in Philly to work on my piece till Saturday. The plan was to stick to my production calendar and do the work but unfortunately that didn't work out so well.  At this point I was hoping that i'd be in the clean up stage of things by now but i'm still working on my pencil test. I was able to get some work done but it is not as much as i wanted, so in short i did not meet my expected amount, but their is some good news to my delema. My friend Anna told me that I should just import the images into photo shop and just work from there. You see, my initial plan was to import everything in and then re-trace it all but since my pencil test are so clean I can just do what she suggested and that should cut my production time in my favor. Still, i have a good ways to go.

With time drawing ever so short I'm staring to believe that i'll have to face facts and realize that i mat of been a bit over my head in what i m trying to do. be that as it may i still have a job to do and i have no time to fear what may be. I'll need to skick closer to my production calander if i want this to work. on the plus side, i was able to stay in Philly this weekend and got a good deal of work done so thats a plus. i'll have to find a way to stick down here as much as i can.

What is the title of your piece? The title of my film is called "The Pink Scarf". A animated short based off the comic created by myself.
What technical questions do you have today? I was having trouble with photoshop when it comes to coloring my character. so far i had to go in and a just the levels for each frame and thats taking more time that it would if i re-traced them.
What babies might you have to kill? i may have to take out the voices and use some cut aways for simpler actions. The cut aways are both a good idea and a time saver. As for the voices, i feel the animation can get it's point across well enough without any dialogue, though i have to admit, i wish i had more time so i could hear my characters speak. at the least, if i am able i'll try to at least and some grunts, groans, and meows.
What will be completed by lunch time? image test with dragon frame.
What will be completed by 3pm? updated animatic.

Part 1: what did you learn from your critique? Did it change your approach to the piece in any way?
I am not sure if i can say that i learned anything from my crit, I mean I was given opinions but I'm not to sure that it was much that i can or want to use. the only good piece of advice that i got was from Megee when he told me that i should do all my keys first and then the in-betweens. Other than that the only thing i learned is that people put to much science and logic out of a 2 minute cartoon.
Part 2: What are your goals for 11:20 am? 3:00 pm? By 11:20 I hope to finish shots 45, 47, 48, and 49 keys and by 3:00pm I hope to complete uploading all off the keys i have done thus far so into Dragon i can at least start the coloring process. So far i am still doing keys. I have completed 47, 48, and half of 49. I may have these numbered incorrectly so i'l have to come back in to correct it at a later time but i guess i've come to a point that i am giving my self more work than I can handle but at the same time i feel in a small way it may be good for me because it keeps my working and i know how much i need, so i guess it's my way of keeping myself in check. I have to try my best to do my best.
Did you meet your goalS? If not then why? No I did not. the reasons can be found in the last paragraph.

Why am i at where i'm at( on schedule, behind schedule) Give 3 most important reasons. Well in truth, like all new experiences learning to adapt to working by schedule and having to constantly keep up with it has been pretty difficult to say the least. Number two reason is that i was at a bit of a disadvantage when it came to getting some of the work done due to the fact that i don't have a mac lab top so i've had to use the school's equipment to get my work done. that and the fact that since i don't live in the city or on campus i've not been able to get as much work done as i'd like. It's only been recently that i've been able to stay at the school over-night to get my work done since the school became opened for 24-7. reason three is the fact that my opening wasn't good enough, or didn't make enough scenes  to be used, I thank thats what jammed me up the most when it came to getting my work done.
What is my goal for today, wednesday, friday, and next monday? My goal is the same as it was when i first began, to finish this animation on time to the best of my ability. for now until i am done i'll be  continuing to work on coloring my shots and start with the sound effects and tracks. Wednesday i'll be going back home so i can work on my backgrounds their and continue when i get back to school the next day. I also have to make time for my other assignments for my other classes. As for how far i've gotten, that info can be found on my production calendar.

April 30, 2012
well, I down to the last week of my time frame and i got to say, i'm not as far with my animation as i'd like to be. so at this point i'll have to pull a rabbit out of my hat for now and go back later and complete it so i have something good for my reel. the hardest thing for me will be the track. and i am going to Wild E. Coyote it for the time being (that means i'll have to use some fades to make up for my lack of shots. good luck for me, some thing tells me if i.... no, when i finish this thing i am going to hate it with a passion. next time around i'll be getting someone to handle my music. So, things i still need to do, Animation, sounds & music, editing, opening title, ending credits, and adding the Uarts Logo.
